Soft Tissue Treatment with Cupping
Although this is an old treatment, it has recently been in the spotlight with the 2016 summer Olympics and the big polka dots on Michael Phelps and other US athletes.
Cupping has been used for more than 2000 years. It uses suction to increase blood circulation, loosen tissue and relax the nervous system. Although the marks that cupping leaves looks dramatic and painful, often it is not. The bruising can last for up to 2 weeks.
Similar to a deep tissue massage, cupping promotes healing by increasing circulation. This cleanses the muscle tissue and kick starts the healing process. It also help break up scar tissue and adhesions that you cannot break up on your own. The benefit is increased range of motion and improved performance.
Anyone who has pain and wants to find relief using natural methods is encourage to give us a call. In addition to cupping, Dr. Doyle also uses Active Release Techniques and Graston Technique for similar issues to help break up scar tissue and adhesions.
